The McKinney Texas Citizens on Patrol (COP) is a citizens support unit for the McKinney Police Department (MPD). This specialized, trained unit is used for non-emergency calls and helps prevent and deter criminal activity through high visibility patrols and community events.

COP has a sister organization, MCPAAA, for those residents who have graduated from the McKinney Citizen’s Police Academy and who participate in other activities such as warrant calling, community awareness and Skywatch observation.

Both organizations play a vital role in the community and are highly regarded by McKinney Police Department (MPD). The more we do, the more MPD officers are on the streets where they need to be.

A Message from the Chief’s Office

Our dedicated team of volunteers served with excellence and smiles at the first Annual Public Safety Open House on August 3rd. We helped with building tours, child ID, traffic control, community awareness, and more! We are honored to work alongside the best police department in the country!
